On June 19th, in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, the Soildiveragro consortium gathered to hold the first meeting of the project.
Soildiveragro's main objective is the adoption of new management practices and cultivation systems that improve soil biodiversity to reduce the use of external inputs, thus increasing the production and quality of crops, the provision of ecosystem services and sustainability and EU resilience of agriculture.
To achieve this objective, 90 agricultural systems will be analyzed in 9 regions of Europe and 15 field studies will be designed and established in six of these participating areas. The project will develop a multi-stakeholder strategy based on the promotion of interrelationships among all the agents that make up the value chain of the agricultural sector.
The Soildiveragro R&D project is funded by the European Horizon 2020 program, has a budget of seven million euros and is coordinated by the University of Vigo. Fyneco participates in this project along with a total of 22 partners from Spain, Finland, Belgium, Germany, Estonia, Denmark and the Czech Republic.
